Steady Witness

Terms of Use

Effective September 5, 2026

1. Agreement

These Terms govern your access to Steady Witness, a service operated by Harris Data & AI, doing business as Mind Constructor. By creating an account, purchasing a subscription, or using the service, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. Independent service

Steady Witness is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Church names, source materials, and trademarks belong to their respective owners.

3. Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 13 years old to use Steady Witness. Users ages 13 through 15, and any other user below the age of legal majority where they live, may use the service only with approval from a parent or legal guardian. Availability to young users may vary where local law requires additional consent or verification. You are responsible for accurate account information, safeguarding access to your account, and activity performed through it. Contact us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.

4. The service

Steady Witness provides personal tools for gospel study and talk preparation, including writing, source organization, rehearsal, and optional AI-assisted features. The service is a preparation aid—not an authoritative source of doctrine, ecclesiastical direction, professional advice, or a substitute for personal study, prayer, judgment, and review of original sources.

5. AI and source accuracy

AI output and source suggestions may be incomplete, inaccurate, outdated, or fabricated. You are responsible for reviewing output, opening original sources, verifying quotations and citations, and deciding what to use. Steady Witness does not guarantee the doctrinal accuracy, suitability, or availability of AI output or third-party content.

6. Your content

You retain ownership of content you submit, such as talk drafts, questions, notes, and reflections. You grant us a limited license to host, process, transmit, back up, and display that content only as needed to provide, secure, maintain, and improve the service. You represent that you have the rights needed to submit your content and that doing so does not violate law or another person’s rights.

7. Acceptable use

You may not misuse the service. In particular, you may not:

  • break the law, infringe intellectual-property or privacy rights, or submit content you are not entitled to use;
  • probe, bypass, disable, or interfere with authentication, access controls, usage limits, security, or service operation;
  • introduce malicious code, automate abusive requests, scrape the service, resell access, or use another person’s account without permission;
  • use the service to harass, deceive, exploit, or harm another person; or
  • use AI features to create or distribute unlawful or harmful material.

8. Plans, billing, and cancellation

The Free plan includes the limits shown in the service. Plus provides unlimited non-AI module access, while Master adds AI capabilities. Paid subscriptions are billed monthly or annually through Stripe at the price shown before checkout, plus applicable taxes. Subscriptions renew automatically until canceled. You may cancel or change your plan through the billing portal; cancellation ordinarily takes effect at the end of the current paid billing period. Except where law requires otherwise, charges already paid are nonrefundable. We may change prices prospectively after giving reasonable notice.

9. Third-party services and links

The service relies on third parties such as Amazon Web Services, Amazon Cognito, Stripe, and the AI model, and may link to external publishers. Their services and content are governed by their own terms and policies. We are not responsible for external sites or for interruptions, changes, or acts of third-party providers.

10. Copyright complaints

We respond to properly submitted copyright notices and may remove or disable access to reported material. We may provide the notice to the affected user and accept legally sufficient counter-notices. We may suspend or terminate repeat infringers where appropriate. The process and notice form are available in our Copyright and DMCA Policy.

11. Suspension and termination

You may stop using the service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access when reasonably necessary to address a Terms violation, fraud, security risk, legal requirement, nonpayment, or material harm to the service or others. Where practicable, we will provide notice and an opportunity to export or retrieve your content.

12. Disclaimers

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the service is provided “as is” and “as available.” We disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, noninfringement, and uninterrupted or error-free operation. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain disclaimers, so some of these terms may not apply to you.

13. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Mind Constructor and its owners, personnel, and service providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost data, profits, goodwill, or opportunities. Our aggregate liability arising from the service will not exceed the greater of $100 or the amount you paid Steady Witness during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. This limitation does not apply where prohibited by law.

14. Indemnity

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend and indemnify Mind Constructor from third-party claims, losses, and reasonable costs arising from your unlawful use of the service, your content, or your material violation of these Terms.

15. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute not resolved informally will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Utah, and you consent to their jurisdiction, except where applicable consumer law requires otherwise.

16. Changes and general terms

We may update these Terms as the service changes. We will post the revised date and provide additional notice when a change is material. If any provision is unenforceable, the remainder stays effective. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not transfer these Terms without our consent; we may transfer them as part of a reorganization, financing, merger, or sale.
